Chief Boima's African In New York is full of club ready African remixes honed during his global travels as a DJ and producer. Fresh off producing an EP for Los Rakas and traveling to Liberia to license a compilation of Hipco & Gbema, African In New York firmly positions Boima as one of the brightest stars in the world bass scene.

Standout tracks on African In New York include Boima’s fresh-to-death Coupé-Décalé “Decolator” refix of Cajmere’s anthemic “Percolator” and his official rework of virtuosic Sierra Leonean blind thumb piano player Sorie Kondi’s “Without Money No Family.” Boima will perform alongside Kondi at SXSW.

Produced over the course of a move from Oakland to Brooklyn, Boima’s African in NY is the follow up to his classic African by the Bay EP (also on Dutty Artz.) This project soundtracks the experience of being an “African” in America’s most international city. African in NY is a manifesto for a new age of global African creativity. African in New York is an early taste of Boima's full length debut  of original productions coming Fall 2012.

Chief Boima is a Sierra Leonean-American DJ/producer born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and raised in the World. He began his international career bringing an African house party vibe to new and willing audiences. His DJ style was inspired by the parties he knew growing up in a close knit African immigrant community in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and similar communities across the United States. As a resident of Little Baobab in San Francisco and as a touring club DJ (in Europe, Africa, North America, and Australia) he has become a respected figure in the promotion of various local styles from around the globe such as Coupe Decale, Cumbia, Kuduro, and Champeta. His remixes and original productions reflect this background. Cover art by Lupo Avanti.
