Contakt & Mayster

Contakt and Mayster have been at the heart of a hive of
creativity in Brooklyn for the past two years as
organizers of the acclaimed Turrbotax party series.
Filling a void for un-pretentious yet forward thinking and adventurous night life in the NYC scene Turrbotax
quickly became a hub for an exciting group of
Brooklyn’s new dance music producers including
Kingdom, Brenmar, Sepalcure, Falty DL and Matt
Shadetek alongside a whos who of international bass
music talent. With a broad musical policy embracing
cutting edge dance sounds and an enthusiastic dancing
crowd the gathering has become a beloved fixture of the Brooklyn scene.
Both behind the scenes and on the decks Contakt and Mayster have crafted an oasis of musical creativity
which continues to inspire partiers and producers alike. For their first outing on Dutty Artz the duo deliver a pair of tracks aimed at the adventurous dancefloor. Korak is an energetic take on non-4x4 house taking influences from dubstep, grime and techno with a dash of tropical flavor from pitched steel drums and organic percussion. Opar brings a warm and cold blend of organic percussion and synthetic bass and stabs to create a snappy house and techno influenced tune which demonstrates the duo’s ear for precise dancefloor sounds. With support from influential artists including Todd Edwards, Ikonika, Mosca and MJ Cole the Brooklyn producers are a pair to watch.
On the remix are two Turrbotax alumni, one from across the Atlantic and one from near at home. Welsh
producer Doc Daneeka has been making quite a name for himself with his unique and soulful take on
the contemporary UK house music sound and turns in a bouncing funky remix of Opar. Dutty Artz own
Matt Shadetek reconstructs Korak in his own take on the Mexican 3Ball Guarachero style drawing out the
percussive technoid influences of the original.
